HIRING PROCESS
1. APPLY
Complete the City of Rock Hill Application and turn it in to the Recruitment Officer.
2. ORAL BOARD INTERVIEW
Applicants will have an Oral Board Interview following the submittal of their application.
3. WRITTEN EXAM
The written exam consists of a math section, reading comprehension section, and a vocabulary section.
4. PHYSICAL AGILITY TEST
The test day starts with the Physical Agility Course (PAT). The PAT course is designed to test an individual’s strength and stamina throughout an obstacle course. Please review our Pre-Academy Prep page to learn more about the PAT course.
5. BACKGROUND PROCESS
Applicants who advance from the oral board interview will enter into the background process. This step is the most time-consuming part of the application process. Applicants can expect to be in this stage between 3-6 weeks.
6. GET TESTED
During the background investigation, the applicant may move to the Conditional Offer portion of the process. At this point, the applicant will be scheduled for a polygraph, psychological exam, and medical physical / drug screen.
7. FINAL INTERVIEW
The applicants who successfully complete the conditional offer stage will then be scheduled to meet the Chief of Police, Chief Watts, for a final interview.
